Jennifer Harman Talks WSOP Memories, 27year later, Poker Hall of Fame Picks, and More
Poker Hall of Famer Jennifer Harman has been a fixture in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) for over two decades. Having won two bracelets at Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas and made several final tables after the transition to Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Harman has seen the WSOP in all of its iterations.
Now, 27 years after her first WSOP final table in 1996, Harman finds herself at yet another World Series rendition at the rebranded Horseshoe Casino on the Strip. While the modern venue doesn’t compare to the WSOP’s original home, Harman still finds the atmosphere cool and exciting.
In an interview with PokerNews, Harman discusses her WSOP memories, her picks for the Poker Hall of Fame, and her experiences playing high-stakes cash games.
WSOP Memories from Binion’s Horseshoe and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino
Harman reminisces about playing at Binion’s Horseshoe, where the WSOP was held before moving to Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. She describes the atmosphere as “such a cool atmosphere” and notes that it’s “just nothing like that” now. However, Harman still finds the modern WSOP venue exciting and cool, even though it’s not a small room like Binion’s Horseshoe.
Harman has made several final tables at the WSOP and won two bracelets during her career. She has seen the WSOP grow and evolve over the years, and she notes that “poker blew up” and became more popular. Despite the changes, Harman still finds the WSOP a “really cool atmosphere.”
Memories of Doyle Brunson
Harman became known to poker fans around the world through her appearances on High Stakes Poker, including on the first episode that aired in 2006. Harman battled with other poker greats such as Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Ted Forrest, and the late Doyle Brunson.
Brunson passed away in May, and Harman felt his loss deeply. She described Brunson as “more of a father” than a poker player to her and noted that he had a soft side. Harman will always remember Brunson for his hugs, which she described as “amazing.”
Picks for the Poker Hall of Fame
Harman is regarded as one of the best cash game players in the world, and she believes that Ray Dehkharghani should be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame this year. Harman notes that Dehkharghani is “really one of the best” high-stakes cash game players.
Playing High-Stakes Cash Games
In addition to playing select WSOP events, Harman will also be playing high-stakes cash games throughout the summer. She notes that she has been busy “raising a family” and will be playing smaller games at the ARIA and Resorts World.
Harman is primarily a cash game player, and she enjoys playing ring games. Even her opponents are excited to see her at the table, and at one point, the player next to her asked for a photo before taking a selfie.
Conclusion
Jennifer Harman is a Poker Hall of Famer with a long and illustrious career in the World Series of Poker. In this interview with PokerNews, Harman shares her memories of playing at Binion’s Horseshoe and Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, her experiences playing high-stakes cash games, and her picks for the Poker Hall of Fame.
